OVERVIEW

While policy is only as good as the individuals and organizations who implement it, at Heron Resolutions we know that policy sets up an organization for implementing the standards, expectations and norms that are crucial for achieving organizational success. 

Complaint and Dispute Resolution policies empowers individuals to take necessary action, and provides boundaries and structure for individuals to engage and approach conflict. 

Code(s) of Conduct policies support organizations in ensuring all parties can understand the behavioural norms of the organization, and can come to expect that colleagues and the community are able to uphold an agreed upon standard of behaviour. 

How can we help?

At Heron Resolutions, we work to implement policy and procedures that support the programs that are fundamental to the organization’s success. We know that policy is only one piece to ensuring organizations are ready to meet the needs of it’s stakeholders, and work hard to ensure the policy integrates into the context and norms of the organization. 

Specifically, we incorporate requirements from your organization, Federal Government and Provincial Government. 

We make recommendations to the policy, procedures and dispute resolution system that addresses the needs of vulnerable participants and marginalized groups via inter-organizational research and consulting.
Our priority is to work with your organization to include harm reduction processes and preventative practices to minimize harm. 

We support development of collateral and communication plan to membership for understanding the complaint and dispute pathway. 

THE PROCESS

Consultation: To develop the appropriate complaint and dispute system or Code(s) of Conduct, our first step is consultation and collaboration with the member organizations and/or participants.  This supports:

  • Understanding where emphasis is required.
  • Ensuring the content is ‘user-friendly’. 
  • Creating engagement in the process by the people who will benefit from the policy.

Development:

  • Through collaboration with your organization’s liaison, we will make recommendations or revisions to existing policy OR 
  • Offer templates of policy to be edited. 
  • Following completion of first draft’s, we will work with your organization’s HR, legal and external stakeholders to ensure the policy is in alignment with all organization considerations.

Publish:

  • We will work to support the system set up that often comes along with new policy implementation AND 
  • Develop a communication plan to your membership to build understanding and buy-in.
